Lotus Blossom Designs, Inc. began on my kitchen table in October 2004 - two weeks after my husband Neil and I returned home from our amazing trip to China where we adopted our sweet daughter Liana.  I have made my own Christmas cards for several years, but Liana’s wondrous arrival into our lives - and her ready smile and musical giggle - have given me inspiration for so much more.  I began making Chinese New Year cards to share her photos with family and friends, and it has long been a dream of mine to share my designs with other adoptive families.

My heartfelt thanks go to my many girlfriends who have offered their ideas and support for the creation of this website.  But my dreams would never be complete without my wonderful husband Neil, who has allowed me to pursue my craft hobbies for so many years without so much as one eye roll – even when paper scraps, crosstitch thread and paint invade every room of our house.

Why Lotus Blossom Designs, Inc.?

Liana’s loving caretakers at her Chinese orphanage gave her the name “Shu Hua” - meaning ‘flower of China.’  We kept this beautiful name as her middle name to honor her Chinese heritage.  Because lotus flowers in China come into full bloom in the heavy heat of late summer - around the time of Liana’s birthday at the end of July - the name Lotus Blossom Designs makes me smile when I think of the baby we met in central China who has blossomed into such a sweet girl.  We thank God for giving her to us every day.
